French Upper-Intermediate

This course is the sequel to French - Intermediate. Writing skills receive more attention in this course than in previous courses, but the emphasis in the lessons is mainly on speaking skills.

During the course, you will discuss various topics with fellow students and if there is reason to do so, (French) current affairs will be discussed. You will learn, among other things, to summarize a text, prepare a job application, and distinguish between different language registers. In addition, you can choose whether you want to focus on oral or written skills.

By the end of the course, you will have reached a level between B1 and B2 of the European Reference Framework. You will then be able to:

  • take a stand and defend a case;
  • participate actively in meetings;
  • write a newspaper article or conduct an interview with a French-speaking person;
  • look up and use French-language sources of information;
  • write your resume and a cover letter;
  • understand the differences and similarities between your own culture and those of French-speaking countries and make them comprehensible to others to facilitate communication.
