Academic writing in Dutch
In this course, you learn the difference between academic and non-academic texts. You will include information from academic sources in your own texts and practice with objective, accurate, and, most of all, formulating clearly.
During the classes, you will discuss interesting mistakes from your work as well as that of others together with the other students. You will receive tips to eliminate the discrepancies in your grammar (such as reference words, active-passive constructions). You will also design an outline, write an academic text step by step, and provide feedback to other students on their draft texts.
At the end of the course you
- will be able to break down the writing process into smaller sub-steps
- are more critical of your own texts and the sources you base them on
- know how to adapt your text to an (academic) audience
- know where to find solutions for grammar, spelling and punctuation problems
