“Sometimes a couple is kind of a chaos. And everybody is lost. No?”

A man tragically falls to his demise at his chalet in the French Alps, raising suspicions of foul play. His wife, the sole other resident during the incident, becomes the primary suspect and faces charges. The couple's blind son stands as the sole witness. During the trial, a cascade of hidden truths about their relationship comes to light.

This modern Hitchcockian thriller puts focus on the complexities of relationships in an unconventional way – during a murder trial. It explores themes of jealousy, infidelity, and guilt.

Awards

After debuting at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, Anatomy of a Fall received universal acclaim, winning the Palme d'Or. Called the “most ambitious and successful film’’ of Triet’s career, the film was praised for its direction and performances, especially by Sandra Hüller. At the Academy Awards, the film was nominated for 5 awards, winning one – Best Original Screenplay.

“This whole film has a wizardry to it which you’ll be thinking about for days, to the internal beat of those steel drums, boinging over and over.”
